Better Planning: Child Care Tips From The Frontline

Hello. I'm a mum with seven children under ten years of age. As you can imagine, all aspects of child care have become the centre of my life. Finding child-friendly products, appropriate play groups and suitable child care facilities are challenges I face on a daily basis. Of course, I'm much more relaxed now after seven children, and I know exactly what products, play groups, and facilities to look for. I figured that other parents might be able to use some of the hacks I've learnt along the way. I hope you find my entries entertaining and informative. Happy parenting!

Becoming A Preschool Teacher: Top 4 Qualities You Should Have

by Soledad Gomez

Having formal training is a good place to start if you want to become a preschool teacher, but there is definitely more to it. Teaching preschool truly is a calling, and you should heed this calling if you possess certain traits. If you have the following qualities, you might want to consider this career path.

1. You Absolutely Love Children

Kids at this age love attention, and if you aren't able to give it readily and enjoy doing so, then it will just be a job. You will be counting down the hours until the day ends and the parents come and pick up their kids. A passion for working and being around children ranks very high on what goes into making a good preschool teacher.

2. You Are Very Patient

Kids at this age are generally a handful, and you will need to be as patient as you can be when handling them. Can you keep your cool when things take a turn in the classroom? It's also important to remember that the only way you can hope to make any real progress with the kids is by working at their level, which, again, requires a lot of patience.

3. You Are Creative

Capturing the attention of a preschooler is quite easy and somewhat difficult at the same time. You cannot afford not to be creative. Music and dance, crafts, and structured play are among some of the ways to keep the kids' attention, and you will need to be creative about it.

It's also crucial to understand that the little ones will grasp the various concepts differently and at different paces. As such, you will need to be creative and tailor the delivery to their different learning styles.

4. You Are High-Energy

Play, play and more play is the language of kids, and especially of preschool kids. Even with classwork, you will need to make it fun and engaging for the children. You will need to be high energy all the time, and let your enthusiasm show. The kids will pick up on it, and you can look forward to a good day.

Becoming a preschool teacher is not for everyone. If these highlighted qualities describe you, you can look forward to a fulfilling career as a teacher to these young ones. Contact a preschool or two in your area to learn more about the qualities that they might be looking for today.
